Day 2: Private half day Orientation
Today we’ll meet our guide. He’ll help explain our itinerary and activate our travel passes, etc.
We’ll then have some time to get a feel for the immediate vicinity with the help of our guide who will point out some useful points of interest including recommended restaurants, cashpoint locations and shopping areas, where the nearest subway station is to get around the city and how to use our PASMO cards.
Day 3: The Skytree and Karaoke
Today is ours to enjoy at our leisure. On the agenda is a visit to:
(a) Imperial Palace (home to Japan's current Emperor and Empress);
(b) Hamarikyu Gardens (once a shogunal palace, this is one of Tokyo's iconic gardens);
(c) Asakusa Kannon Temple, or Sensoji Temple (Tokyo's biggest temple and the site of many festivals and celebrations throughout the year); and
(d) Meiji Jingu Shrine in Harajuku (an excellent place for seeing the cherry blossom).
At sunset we’ll ascend the Tokyo Skytree (350m), if we’re lucky, we'll be able to see Mount Fuji in the distance. In the evening we will find a Karaoke bar!
Day 4: Swords and cars
Today we'll experience two very different sides of Japan. First to the Japanese Sword Museum, where we’ll learn more about these traditional, iconic weapons. Then, we’ll head over to the man-made islands of Odaiba, where we'll see the Japan of the future. Home to amazing architecture, tech showcases and the Toyota Mega Web - a 'car theme park'. Odaiba also has some fantastic restaurants to enjoy.
Day 5: Studio Ghibli and the Robot Café
Today we’ll journey 20 minutes out of the city today to explore the magical Studio Ghibli Museum.
In the evening we’ll have dinner in the Robot Café in Shinjuku where we’ll see robot wars.
